
Governor Wike Gives Burna Boy, Other Nigerian Artistes 10 Million Naira
-The Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike has offered 10 million to Burna Boy and other artists that performed at a homecoming party
-Nigerians on social media have blasted the governor for giving artists money while owing public school teachers five years salaries
-Attendees of the event also reportedly failed to adhere to COVID precautionary guidelines
Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike promised all performing artists at Burna boy’s homecoming event N10 Million each.
The event was arranged to celebrate the Nigerian musician’s Global Music Album category win at the 2021 Grammy Awards.
During the event, Wike said that Burna made the entire state happy by bringing home the award.
During his speech, he offered 10 million Naira to every artist who performed at the event.

Wike’s donation has resulted in a backlash from Nigerians on social media.

Rivers state has reportedly failed to pay public school teachers salary for 5 years which caused a state-wide protest last week.
The protesting teachers stated that the hardship from nonpayment of salaries has resulted in the death of 10 teachers.

There was also outrage about the failure of the attendees to adhere to social distancing and COVID protocols.
