-The Union threatened to go on strike if the pending issues are not resolved timely
The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has called out the Nigerian Government for victimizing members and failing to pay 10 months salary arrears.

The Union threatened that it may soon call out its members for another strike if grievances with the government are not resolved.
Chairman of the University of Ibadan branch of the union, Prof. Ayo Akinwole stated that one of the conditions for suspending the strike in December was that members will not be victimized for their role in the strike. Yet, many lectures have been left unpaid for up to 10 months.

Although ASUU started that members have returned to work, it added that members will be unable to cope without salaries in the harsh economy.
The leader of the University staff union stated that members may be forced to withdraw their services again if the situation endures.

According to the chairman, outstanding five months’ salaries have been paid for some people but over 100 UI staff are still being owed.
