Management of the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Kaduna state announced that nine of its students who were abducted by gunmen along Kaduna Expressway last week Sunday have been released.
The students were said to be from the Department of French and they were travelling to Lagos for a programme at the French language village, Badagry, when they were abducted along the Abuja-Kaduna Expressway.

Also, a brother to one of the released students, Julius Mutum tweeted on his Twitter handle that his sister and some of her course mates had been set free.
Mutum in his tweet typed; “Thankfully, my sister and some of her course mates have just regained her freedom a few minutes ago. Thanks for lending your voice @ShehuSani”
One of the students who escaped with a gunshot wound explained that the kidnappers had contacted families of the abducted students, demanding a sum of N30 million ransom on each student at first, before they later reduced their demands to a million naira on each student.
