A total of 668 students of the Government Science Secondary School Kankara, Katsina State are still unaccounted for, according to report.

Quoting the school register, it was reported that prior to the unfortunate event, 1,074 schoolboys in both its Junior and Senior Secondary sections were in the school.
In the Junior section, there are 412 students across JSS 1A to JSS 2C and between them are six classes comprising A to C.
In the senior section, there are 644 students from SS 1A to SS 2C anf between them are seven classes.
The report added that, both SS3 and JSS 3 students have already completed their final exams, hence they were not present in school at the time of the attack.
It was alleged that 270 of the students were rescued by the police on the night of the attack and the figure grew to 406 given that some students had returned from hiding while others fled home.
