KNEES AND TOES:
Alterplate Music presents the visual for Knees & Toes by Collins Ogheneovo Clever who also goes by the stage name DEZIGN.
The dance hall tune also features his label boss, Harrysong.
Dezign and Harrysong share a history as childhood friends and in the early stages of their career were members of a music group in Warri known as ‘Dezigner Voices.’
Knees and Toes is his first effort under Alterplate Music and was produced by prolific music producer Del B.
BACKGROUND STORY
I will go on to tell you a lil’ about Dezign! He is my childhood friend, we grew up together. He was my landlady’s grand son, a wealthy woman as far back as in the 80’s. In our teenage year, there wasn’t an inkling that he would become a Naija artiste doing dancehall music and i am sure he didn’t think so too, himself. Coming this far wasn’t as easy as his video now depicts but Dezign showed two things that any successful entrepreneur will preach; dogged persistence and consistency!
TRUE FRIENDSHIP BETWEEN HARRYSONG AND DEZIGN:
Harrysong has shown himself a true friend as they all were in a group called the dezigner voices built by Dezign and five other church boys.. Yes, Dezign started from the church! They would sing and be invited by churches on special events in Warri. As it is always with groups, the dezigner voices began to dissipate gradually as some of the boys will separate from the whole faction. A few stayed until few years down the line, Harrysong joined the group. I can’t really say for sure when he did because i had just come back from Youth service in 2006 and we had packed away from Dezign’s compound during the 1999 Warri ethnic crisis that affected alot of Deltans but his voice was the strength of the group as waffi babes would kill to be his girlfriend. The group finally fell when Harrysong hustled his way through to Lagos to become the star that he is now.
Dezign was still struggling to push his way through the music but Harrysong didn’t leave his childhood friend behind as he held his hands through the ropes and now they are in this together on Dezign’s first debut track under Harrysong’s Label, Alterplate.
