Senior Special Assistant on Public Affairs to former President Goodluck Jonathan, Dr. Doyin Okupe, has literally set Twitter ablaze after he tweeted that he does not lie, he is a serious Christian and he can never steal. Before his appointment by President Jonathan in 2012, Okupe was spokesman for former President Olusegun Obasanjo and a former governorship aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party in Ogun State in 2003. Indeed he is soaked in politics and to say he can never steal, can only invite trolls. Politician, Doyin Okupe sets Twitter ablaze.
Last night, while denying claims by the publisher of Sahara Reporters, Omoyele Sowore, that he had a deal with the Federal government to keep quiet in exchange for his freedom, Okupe, via his Twitter handle @doyinokupe, wrote: “I am a serious minded Christian. u don’t need to believe me but the God I serve& worship know who I am. I do not lie & CAN NEVER STEAL.”

Recall that Sahara Reporters in the past claimed that the politician, who recently joined the Accord Party, a few weeks after he dumped the Peoples Democratic Party, partook in the corruption that happened in the last administration. He was accused of embezzling N1.6 billion by Sahara Reporters after he accused its founder, Omoyele Sowore of blackmail.
In a heated exchange on twitter, Okupe reacted to the news that Sowore’s account was frozen and accused him of being a peddler of fake news and blackmailer of politician. Sahara Reporters accused Okupe of embezzling fund from a contract he secured but said he got away with it because he had a deal with the federal government.
