Ace Nollywood actor, Patrick Doyle has called out popular pop star, Davido over his ‘IF’ song which according to him, has negative impacts on today’s generation. The veteran broadcaster opined that the song is causing harm to the minds of the youth. According to him, the ’30 billion for your account’ catchphrase made popular by Davido’s hit song ‘IF’ is having a negative impact on pop culture in the society, especially on young people. Patrick Doyle says Davido’s ‘IF’ song encourages crime.
He made this known in a chat with HipTV. Doyle said, “Entertainment and pop culture impact the people in a very subtle but insidious manner. We get our mannerisms.

“Are you beginning to hear ’30 billion for our account ooo’” the ace actor mimicked Davido, saying and that’s from entertainment. When you start telling a young child ’30 billion for our account ooo’, he is singing it and he is going to grow up to want to get 30 billion in his account by any means necessary.

“So that’s why I say entertainment is insidious and thus, we need for people with some level of common sense because the boy (Davido) who is singing ’30 billion for our account ooo’ does not understand what he has done but he has put in the mind of young people that ‘anyhow you like – yahoo plus, kidnapping etc, just do it and get ’30 billion for our account ooo’”.
The actor also urged young practitioners in the movie industry against looking down on the people they met in the business, saying: “Young people in the industry get a little carried away. In their minds, they believe they are the custodians of quality. Also, young people all over the world have been known to be a little bit overconfident so I don’t hold it against them.
“We don’t teach history anymore in Nigeria. The reason they have come into it is because it is attractive and who made it attractive. You cannot come into something you find attractive and disdain the people who made it attractive,” he noted.
