Nina Jane Patel, a psychotherapist who is the vice president of research at a metaverse company claims that she was virtually gang-raped within 60 seconds of logging into “Horizon Venues”, a virtual world owned by Facebook’s Meta.
According to Patel, 3 to 4 male avatars with male voices sexually assaulted her and took photos of the incident.

Patel claims that as she tried to get away the virtual rapists yelled- “don’t pretend you didn’t love it”.
Meta’s horizon world allows users to meet friends and strangers in its virtual world, where each user is provided with an avatar that mimics their body movement.Although this is commonly used by people to chat, play games, and enjoy the immersed experience, shocking incidents such as this happen from time to time.
