Popular RB singer R Kelly has been found guilty of using his celebrity status to sexually exploit women and children for over 2 decades.
In the trial which lasted for 6 weeks, eleven accusers which included 9 women and two men took to the stand to testify against the musician.
After deliberating for 2 days, the jury has decided that the 54-year-old is guilty and he stands to spend as much as the rest of his life behind bars.
The jury states that it found Sylvester Kelly to be the leader of a violent scheme that was created to exploit women and children sexually.
The RB music legend was found to be trafficked women across multiple states in the US.
Asides from the 8 counts of sex trafficking that he was found guilty of, R Kelly was also convicted for racketeering, for his role in the organized crime.
The prosecutors also alleged that the musician was aided by his managers, entourage, and security personnel to carry out the various crimes.
One of the testifiers claimed that she was locked up, drugged, and raped by the musician and had to go into hiding following threats from the musician.
Legal documents revealed that R Kelly controlled even the tiniest of details in his victim’s lives, including telling them when to use the bathroom and what clothes to wear.
The verdict comes 13 years after Kelly was acquitted of child pornography charges but he is set to be sentenced on May 4 for his crimes this time.
