Mackenzie Scott, the former wife of Amazon founder Jeff Bezos has made a whopping $436 million donation to charity. The money was donated to Habitat for Humanity and 84 of its US affiliates, according to a statement released by the organization on Tuesday.

Scott has gone on a donation spree since 2019 when she signed the Giving Pledge along with other billionaires, where they promised to give away the majority of their wealth to charity.

Announcing the donation, chief executive of Habitat for Humanity International, Jonathan Reckford said that the donation will make it possible for more people to have a decent place to live.

Reckford also disclosed that the massive donation will be shared by Habitat for Humanity International and its affiliates, and put towards the development of affordable housing, particularly in communities of color.

He narrated that the pandemic had driven up the prices of homes as people in markets sought houses in less crowded locations.

According to the report, Habitat for Humanity itself will receive $25 million while the remaining $411 million will be forwarded to affiliates.

Mackenzie Scott’s net worth is valued at $49.9 billion, with most of the fortune gotten as alimony after her divorce from Bezos in 2019.
