  • The man who is a resident of Zhenjiang was hospitalised on April 28 and diagnosed with the disease on May 28

  • Beijing’s National Health Commission (NHC) has reported that the H10N3 is low pathogenic and is unlikely to result in an outbreak

There are fears that the world could be set for another disease from China.

This is after a 41-year-old man in Jiangsu China was diagnosed with a rare strain of bird flu H10N3.

Bird flu

There are many strains of bird flu in China and they are cases of people getting infected however there is no proof of this strain being high pathogenic.

The infected man who is a resident of Zhenjiang took ill on April 28 but he was only diagnosed with the disease on May 28.

Although no details were given about how the man contracted the virus, he is reported to be stable and has been discharged.

Following investigations by the National Health Commission of Beijing and testing of the man’s close contacts, no new cases were found.

According to the NHC, the H10N3 strain is low pathogenic and is unlikely to cause an outbreak of the disease.

The World Health Organization has reported that as long as avian influenza is present in poultry, there is the threat of an influenza outbreak.
