The billionaire asked WFP to provide a detailed plan on how $6 billion can end world hunger and he’ll sell Tesla stocks to provide the money.

“If WFP can describe on this Twitter thread exactly how $6B will solve world hunger, I will sell Tesla stock right now and do it,”

In a follow-up tweet, he also said that the details must be “open source accounting” so that the public sees how the money is being used.

However, Musk’s tweet wasn’t a show of philanthropy but rather a challenge levied against the organization.

It was in response to a CNN headline about a statement by David Beasley, the director of the WFP saying that 2% of the billionaire’s wealth could end world hunger.

WFP director Beasley was quick t point out that the headline was misleading. He disclosed that while that money isn’t enough to end world hunger, it will save 42 million people from starving.

At the moment, SpaceX billionaire Elon Musk is worth $311 billion, making him the richest man according to Bloomberg Billionaires Index.

The billionaire has however been criticized on several occasions for being non-philanthropic.
