Former Player Xavi Hernandez to Become Barcelona Manager

Former Barcelona midfielder Xavi Hernandez is set to be announced as the new manager of the football team.

This is coming after Qatari club Al Sadd has announced that a deal has been reached to acquire the services of the former Spanish midfielder.

The 41-year-old will now replace Ronald Koeman at the helm of the first-team affairs after he was sacked last week.

Barcelona has had a poor start to the season following the departure of Lionel Messi. The Catalan club has managed to win only 4 of their first 11 games in the league.

Al Sadd chief executive Turki Al-Ali announced this saying:

The Al Sadd administration has agreed on Xavi’s move to Barcelona after the payment of the release clause stipulated in the contract. We’ve agreed on cooperation with Barcelona in the future.”

Xavi Hernandez played for Barcelona until 2015, during which time he helped the club to 25 trophies, including four Champions Leagues and eight La Liga titles.

The player than joined Al Sadd as a player in the same year then graduated to become their head coach in 2019 after retiring as a player.

In April, he led Al Sadd to the Qatari domestic league title as the club remained unbeaten in the process.
