Ride-hailing company, Uber has just announced that it will be increasing the cost of its transportation for Lagos residents by 13% from Tuesday, May 11, 2021.
The company sent an email to users as regards this information on Monday morning.
At Uber, we remain committed to providing a reliable earning opportunity for driver-partners, as well as a reliable and affordable service for riders. With this in mind, starting 11th May 2021, we are increasing prices on UberX by about 13%.
The new price update introduces time-based pricing that will allow drivers to make money at late hours.
On Tuesday to Friday between 8 am and 12 pm, customers will pay a minimum of N538 and a base fare of N237.
During other periods, the price will be N575 for minimum fare and N255 for Base fare.

It will be recalled that Uber and Taxify drivers complained about the low fares being charged.
They also threatened to strike if the companies failed to increase their ride fares.
