-The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has announced that cryptocurrency activities are not banned in the country

-According to a statement from The Governor of the bank, Godwin Emefiele, there is only a ban on crypto activities in the banking sector

-The governor also stated that the institution is not discouraging people from trading it

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has announced that cryptocurrency activities were never banned in the country.

The news was passed by the governor of the institution, Godwin Emefiele revealed this while speaking at the 30th seminar for Finance Correspondents and Business Editors in Abuja.

The Governor of the Apex bank revealed that all CBN did was to protect the banking sector from cryptocurrency activities.

The Deputy Governor of Corporates Services, Adamu Lamtek also added that Nigerians have not been discouraged from trading the digital currencies.

The Apex ban has issued a ban on Bitcoin and other forms of cryptocurrency exchange in the country since February 2021.

This has forced crypto startups and traders to develop new ways to send and receive crypto assets.
