Data from CoinMarketCap has shown Bitcoin breaching its all-time high of $64,900 on Wednesday afternoon.
The flagship cryptocurrency rallied to reach a new all-time high of $66,200.
The rise in the value of the cryptocurrency will likely have been driven by a landmark moment as the first-ever exchange-traded fund of Bitcoin debuted in the New York stock exchange.
The ETF debut means that more investors will now have access to the cryptocurrency which could be beneficial for BTC in the long run.
At the time of this report, Bitcoin is trading at $65,900, up by 5.5 percent in the last 24 hours, according to data from Binance.
BTC has a market capitalization of $1.25T, almost half of the entire cryptocurrency market cap which stands at $2.61T.
Other cryptocurrencies have also benefitted from BTC’s rally, with Ether breaking above $4,000 for the first time since April.
