WHO Disqualifies Nigeria From Covid Vaccine Bid, Won’t Send Vaccine to Nigeria
-The World Health Organization has failed to shortlist Nigerian for Pfizer Covid Vaccine
-The disqualification is a result of the country’s failure to meet storage requirements.
-The Nigerian government had stated that it was expecting 100,000 doses of the vaccine
The World Health Organization did not shortlist Nigeria among the African countries to receive Covid Vaccine.
WHO failed to select Nigeria along with the four other countries due to the country’s inability to provide a standard storage facility.
FG earlier stated that the country was expecting 100,000 doses of the Covid-19 vaccine but it seems we might have to wait a little longer.
Dr. Matshidiso Moeti, Director of WHO, African region stated that the organization can not risk the Pfizer vaccine being wasted.

320,000 doses of the vaccine will be allocated to four African countries- Tunisia, Rwanda, Cape Verde, and South Africa.
The vaccine a required to be stored at a temperature of -70 degrees Celcius.
Nigeria was among the countries expected to receive the vaccine due to its high infection rate.
Nigeria has a Covid infection rate of 25% and it is expected to surge without vaccination.
The African Union has acquired 670 million doses of Coronavirus vaccine that will be distributed in 2021 and 2022.
Since the Union will be distributing vaccines based on infected population, Nigeria will be among the first to receive.
