The US Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has certified the Pfizer and Moderna COVID vaccines to have 94% efficacy against the virus.

This confirmation comes after studies were carried out on a larger sample size across various geographical locations.

According to a disclosure by the CDC, both mRNA vaccines were found to reduce the likelihood of contracting the virus by 94% when the full dose is received.

Moderna COVID vaccines

People who are only partially vaccinated with these vaccines are only 82% less likely to get the disease.

The result of this study confirms the CDC’s claim that everyone should get both doses of the vaccine to be properly protected.

This confirmation is coming only a week after the World Health Organization approved another vaccine, Sinopharm from China.

Sinopharm vaccine has 79% efficacy against virus based on preliminary tests.

Both the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines are unavailable in Nigeria at the moment.

The country currently uses doses of the AstraZeneca vaccines which are manufactured at the University of Oxford.
