
COVID 19 Vaccination: FG Sets 56.6 Million Target as March End Nears

The Federal Government has disclosed that it has set a target to vaccinate 56.6 million people, 50% of Nigeria’s eligible population by the end of Q1 2022, even though it is currently far from this target.
The set milestone was revealed by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation and the head of the Presidential Covid Committee, Mr. Boss Mustapha, while he was speaking at the 2022 Primary Healthcare Summit.
He said:
“We have a target to reach 56.6m (50%) eligible Nigerians by Q1 2022 and we are far from this target.”
He added that the country’s COVID 19 vaccination effort will be aided by the SCALES 2.0 strategy that was launched by the National Primary Health Care Development Agency.
According to the government secretary, COVID 19 vaccination sites are now more accessible at both private and public primary, secondary and tertiary health facilities.

Mr. Mustapha also expressed confidence about the ability of Nigeria to overcome the pandemic, thanks to its “strengthened health system.”
