
COVID 19 Shakes Nigeria as 11 Deaths Are Recorded

Nigeria recorded 11 deaths from COVID 19 complications on Friday, August 13, which brings the country’s total death total to 2,211 deaths

The country also recorded 636 new cases across the 19 states where testing was carried out on Friday

Since the start of the pandemic last year, 181,297 people have tested positive for the virus while 166,709 have been discharged from quarantine facilities
The hold of COVID 19 in Nigeria appears to be getting stronger as the country recorded 636 new cases of COVID.
The country has been struggling to contain the spread of the virus since the more transmissible Delta variant made its way into the country.
The latest daily infections are however lower than the 753 cases that the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) reported the previous day.
5 states (Lagos, Taraba, Rivers, Akwa Ibom, and Kwara) were responsible for more than 70% of the total recorded cases.
Lagos led the way with 291 new infections, while Rivers daily infection increased from the previous day to 117.
Taraba, Akwa Ibom, and Kwara completed the top 5 in recorded infections with 58, 54, and 28 daily infections respectively.
Ekiti state had 14, Ogun (14), Federal Capital Territory (13), Oyo(11) while 9 new infections were recorded in Edo state.
Osun state had 6, Bayelsa (5), Delta (4), Gombe (4). Abia and Plaeuteu reported 3 news cases each while Sokoto had one.
Two states, Ondo and Nasarawa did not record any new COVID cases despite carrying out testing.

The death toll from COVID 19 complications was an alarming 11, bringing the total death toll to 2,211.
