Andy Jassy who has been at Amazon for 24 years and developed Amazon Web Services will now take over as the CEO
Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, who is responsible for the development and growth of the retail giant has officially stepped down as the CEO of the company on Monday.
57-year-old Bezos will remain the executive chairman of the company, with less involvement in the day to day running of the can’t company.
The billionaire businessman will be replaced by long-term employee Andy Jassy who built Amazon Web Service in 2003.
Jassy has been at Amazon for 24 years and he previously oversaw Amazon Web Services which owns 30% of the cloud computing market share.
Since founding Amazon in a garage in 1994, Bezos has managed to help the company to become one of the biggest in the world.
From selling books to customers online, Amazon now deals in many order businesses including Prime Video, Twitch, Audible, and Amazon Music.
What’s next of the world’s richest man?
Jeff Bezos is set to set out to space later this month with his brother Mark and aviator Wally Funk.
They’ll be leaving in a spacecraft manufactured by his own company, Blue Origin on the 20th of July 2021.
The billionaire also plans to work with Earth Funds and donate money to organizations fighting against climate change.
Bezos will also be work with the Day 1 Fund, an organisation developer by the billionaire that is committed to fighting homelessness and creating better education in impoverished communities.
We also assume that the billionaire will be spending more time on his yacht, which is set to be finished after paying $500 million.
