The “Coffin Dance”, one of the world’s most popular memes was recently minted into a Non-fungible token, and has just sold for over $1 million.
You would remember the video meme which went viral during the COVID pandemic lockdown in 2020. The video shows some men holding a coffin and dancing around with it.
The video which is also dubbed “Dancing Pallbearers” was also shared by former president of the United States, Donald Trump.
The Coffin Dance NFT was auctioned on the Foundation platform on April 8, where it was sold for 327 ETH ($1,046,079 at that time).

The group stated that 25% of the proceeds from the meme’s sale will be donated to the “Come Back Alive” charity in Ukraine. This charitable organization solicits funds to help the Ukrainian people and its army, in the war against Russia.

Although the sale of the Coffin Dance NFT has caused quite some stir, it is not the first viral meme to be auctioned on the Foundation platform.
In February 2021, the Nyan Cat meme was sold for 300 ETH, while the Disaster Girl meme sold for 180 ETH, 2 months later.
