A new trend has taken over -Scleral tattooing, commonly known as eye tattooing.

Yeah, you heard that right. People tattoo their eyeballs in one of the most dangerous fashion trends.

What is Eye Tattoo?

Eyes Tattoos are Scelera Tattoos because they even the colouring of the white part of your eyes (Sclera).

Many regions have banned them because the procedure is dangerous and often performed unregulated.

What you should know about Sclera Tattoo

Despite the name, Eye tattooing is not similar to regular body tattoos.

This extreme body modification is done by injecting ink over the sclera ( white part of the eye) causing it to change to a different colour.

This process is more dangerous than getting a regular tattoo on your arm. There have been several cases of complications from the procedure.

Founders of this procedure, Luna Cobra and Shannon Larratt have warned that people should do it with caution since it cannot be reversed.

Loss of eyesight

Total loss of the eye

The damning thing about the procedure is that there might be problems even if the procedure is done properly.

A Polish model Aleksandra Sadowska was the victim of a botched eye tattoo that left her with eye problems.

Sadowska had hoped the modification will make her look like rapper Popek, so she dyed her eyes black.

The procedure however went wrong and caused permanent damage to her right eye.
