President Buhari Extends IGP Adamu’s Tenure

-Mohammed Adamu is set to spend additional time as IGP after being granted 3 months extension by President Buhari

-The Minister for Police affairs disclosed this on Thursday at the presidential villa

-Adamu’s tenure expired on Monday after serving for 35 years.

President Buhari has granted IGP Mohammed Adamu an extension in office after his tenure expired.

The president IGP Adamu 3 additional years as the Head of Nigeria’s Police force.

The IGP was expected to vacate office when his tenure expired on 1 February 2021 but he shocked everyone by remaining in office.

He was present at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport in Abuja on Tuesday to welcome President Buhari on his arrival from Daura.

We had earlier reported that the President ordered the IGP to step down, but it now appears that he will be granted more time.

The extension will allow the Government additional time to select an appropriate replacement for the Police Head.

Mohammed Adamu has been the Inspector General of the police for two years, since being appointed by the present Government in January 2019.

Adam, 59 has served in Nigeria’s police force for 35 years.
