HTC to Launch World’s First Metaverse Smartphone

HTC, one of the world’s biggest smartphone brands is set to make a comeback by launching a metaverse smartphone.

According to DigiTimes, the company’s general manager Charles Huang has disclosed that the device will be launched by April this year.

The phone is said to be powerful enough to handle applications designed for augmented reality and virtual reality.

Although other giants like Google and Samsung have tried to pull off an AR/VR mobile device in the past without much success, many are hopeful that things will be different for HTC.

Being one of the top players in the PC virtual reality space, it is expected that the Taiwanese company will harness its experience in the development of the metaverse smartphone.

This comes after HTC Chairwoman Cher Wang recently unveiled the company’s plans for a metaverse, similar to the one launched by Facebook.

HTC also announced the $499 Vive Flow VR headset in October last year, a device that features two front-facing cameras to support motion and hand tracking.
