U.S. Elections; U.S elects first 2 openly gay, black congressmen

Two men known to be Ritchie Torres and Mondaire Jones made history in the U.S. during the 2020 election by becoming the first openly gay, black men to be voted into Congress.

Ritchie Torres

Ritchie John Torres is an American politician from New York. A member of the Democratic Party, he is the New York City Councilmember for the 15th district. Elected in 2013, he is the first openly gay candidate to be elected to legislative office in the Bronx, and the youngest member of the city council.

Mondaire Jones

On the other side is Mondaire Jones who is an American attorney and politician from the state of New York. He is the Democratic U.S. Representative-elect for New York’s 17th congressional district after winning the 2020 election. He won, which made him and Ritchie Torres the first openly gay Black men elected to Congress.

And it’s two days into the elections and we are yet to know who will be the president of the USA for another four years as Biden leads Trump with just a little margin.
