
Lagos Tightens Security In Public Schools Amid School Children Abduction
-The Lagos State government has ordered surveillance in public schools following recent school children abduction in Northern Nigeria
-The government believes that there is a likelihood of a copycat attack
-Between December 2020 and March 2020 bandits have abducted 100s of students across Nothern states
The Lagos state government has ordered constant surveillance of public schools in Lagos, following rampant school children abduction in Northern Nigeria.
The government hasn’t ruled out the likelihood of copycat attacks in the state.
The State’s Commissioner for Education, Folashade Adefisayo disclosed that the government does not believe the state is impenetrable, hence the decision.Ms. Adefisayo stated that the Babajide Sanwo-Olu administration is dedicated to protecting students.
It will be worth noting that since December 2020, they have been a number of abductions across northern states, Katsina, Niger, and Zamfara.
The bandits eventually freed the students but the government denied making payments.

Lagos has had its fair share of abductions in the past. On February 29, 2016, students of Babington Macaulay Junior Seminary were abducted in Ikorodu.
In October of the same year, the vice-principal, teachers, and students of Igbonla Model College in Epe were abducted.
