Tajudeen and Abdulazeez had been dragged before the court on charges bordering on attempt to kill the Osun State Governor, Adegboyega Oyetola, malicious damage of 17 vehicles in the governor’s convoy, and theft of phones and laptops at a mall in Osogbo.
While in the dock listening to their charges, the defendants, who could no longer hold back, burst into laughter at the point they were accused of attempting to kill the governor.
Their action, however, got the magistrate angry.
Ayilara asked the defendants if they understood the gravity of the charges against them; they immediately adjusted.
The police prosecutor, John Idoko, said the defendants and others yet to be apprehended on October 17, 2020, in Osogbo, conspired and attempted to kill Oyetola by firing gunshots and throwing stones at him.
Idoko also claimed that the defendants damaged 17 vehicles in the governor’s convoy, adding that the defendants, on the same day at Justrite Mall, Osogbo, stole laptops, mobile phones and phone accessories valued at N3,568,000 belonging to one Ashiru Ibrahim Olayemi.
They both pleaded not guilty to the five counts pressed against them.
