
Eid el Fitr: FG Declares 2 Days Public Holiday
- The federal government has declared Monday and Tuesday next week as public holidays.

Monday, May 2nd has been declared a work-free day, in celebration of the annual Workers Day.

Tuesday, May 3rd holiday will be in celebration of this year’s Eid el Fitr celebrations.
On Thursday, Rauf Aregbesola announced that the Federal Government of Nigeria has declared Monday, May 2nd, and Tuesday, May 3rd as public holidays.
Aregbesola, the Minister of Interior made this known in a press statement signed by the Permanent Secretary Federal Ministry of Interior, Dr. Shuaib Belgore. The holidays were declared to celebrate Workers Day and Eid el Fitr.
In his announcement, Ogbeni Aregbesola praised all Nigerian workers and commended them for their commitment and hard work. He added that their efforts do not go unnoticed and they deserve to be acknowledged for Nigeria’s greatness and respect internationally.
International workers’ day is usually celebrated on the first day of May worldwide. It aims to celebrate workers, honor their contributions and promote their rights.
In addition to that, Aregbesola sent his heartfelt congratulations to the Muslims all over the country for completing this year’s Ramadan successfully.
In his announcement, he encouraged all Muslims to be kind, peaceful, and tolerant like the Holy Prophet Muhammad. He prayed that the peace of Allah will be with them during the Eid el Fitr celebrations.

The minister reassured Nigerians of the current administration’s commitment to securing Nigerians’ lives and properties. He also implored Nigerians to play their part by being cautious and reporting suspicious people to the appropriate authorities.
Aregbesola stated that the security issues faced in some parts of Nigeria will soon be a thing of the past. He assured Nigerians that President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration is taking the required steps to create a peaceful environment for people to live in throughout the country.
