We Need The $5.3 Billion Chinese Loan For Ibadan-kano Rail Line – Amaechi

The Nigerian government is waiting on their Chinese counterpart to approve the $3.5bn loan to foot the Ibadan-Kano rail line

Minister of Transport, Rotimi Amaechi made this disclosure during a programme on NTA on Saturday.

According to him, the project will commence as soon as the loan from the Chinese government is approved.

  Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi has revealed the federal government will commence work on the construction of the Ibadan-Kano rail line whenever the Chinese government approves the sum of $5.3bn loan application.

Amaechi who was made an appearance on Weekend Deal Programme on the Nigeria Television Authority, NTA, stated that the project although had been approves a year ago would only get started when the Chinese government releases the funds.

In addition, the Minister said that the Ibadan-Kano rail line would link the Kaduna-Kano-Abuja-Minna-Ilorin-Oshogbo-Ibadan and upon completion which would enable  cargoes to be moved to Kano from Lagos.

Meanwhile, we reported earlier that the Nigerian government has directed all telecommunication operators to deregister all SIM cards that are not synchronized with the National Identity Number (NIN) by December 30th 2020.
