The President of Benin Republic, Patrice Talon has expressed his readiness for the country to become a part of Nigeria.

Mr. Onyeama added that the Benin president had also made this offer when he visited President Muhammadu Buhari a few weeks ago.
President Patrice Talon told Buhari that Benin Republic should be like a 37th Nigerian state. He urged Buhari to help build a relationship between both countries.
Both Presidents also discussed ways to put an end to smuggling and benefit both parties.
Nigerians have reacted to the news with shock. Many of them claim that Nigeria is not stable enough to cater for itself, yet another country.
If the North thinks incorporating Benin Republic into Nigeria is a way to make it indivisible, let them know they are wasting their time.
The bigger it gets, the surer its break-up will happen.

How can Benin Republic that have less corrupt government and steady electricity than Nigeria want to be Nigeria's 37th state? pic.twitter.com/6zNNk7zlEl
