Sunday Dare Asefon yesterday emerged the new President, National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), amidst sporadic shootings that marred the election.

Afeson, 48 and married is a Postgraduate Diploma (PGD) student at Ekiti State University (EKSU), in Ado-Ekiti, the stare capital.

The new NANS president, was the former coordinator of the Association in Zone ‘D’ comprising all institutions in the Southwestern.

He is alleged to be backed by the Ekiti State Governor, Kayode Fayemi, who also nurses presidential ambition in 2023.

Asefon polled 155 votes and was returned as winner of the election. The results from other on the ballot includes Ladoja 100, Momodu, 11, Alopay 7 and Champion 2. votes; Alopay, 7 votes and Ladoja, 100 votes. 7 votes were declared invalid.

Asefon emerges New President of NANS

At 48, Asefon would become oldest president of the Association in recent time as Bamidele Akpan, the recently impeached president was sworn in at 42.
