Twenty three-year-old Mayorkun gained recognition for his hit single Eleko, which reached number one on iTunes and gained 1 million plus YouTube video views, within a week of release.
On March 3, 2016, Davido announced Mayorkun’s signing to the HKN gang and Davido Music Worldwide imprint and on April 8, 2016, Mayorkun released his first official single under HKN Gang and Davido Music Worldwide.

Mayorkun then proceeded to drop the video to the highly successful song, and its video hit 1 million views within just 10 days of release on YouTube.
He quit his job as a banker to become a professional musician after Davido called upon him to be signed to DMW,
