A popular messaging service, WhatsApp, suffered a widespread global outage on Wednesday. WhatsApp back online after global outage, Nigerians react.
The outage lasted for several hours before being resolved.
In Nigeria, messages failed to deliver at about 11pm or thereabout.
After a couple hours, the application completely packed up.
WhatsApp users in all parts of the world were unable to access the App for a few hours.
It is used by more than 1.2 billion people around the world and is a key tool for communications and commerce in many countries.
The app was down in Nigeria, parts of India, Canada, the United States, Brazil.
It affected people who use the service on Apple Inc’s iOS operating system, Alphabet Inc’s Android and Microsoft Corp’s Windows mobile OS.
In an email, WhatsApp confirmed that the App has been restored.
“We have now fixed the issue and apologize for the inconvenience,” the mail read, as quoted by Reuters.

Meanwhile, some Nigerians were busy sleeping and snoring and didn’t know the App shut down.
