Singer Waje Reveals How She Escaped Prostitution

Multiple award-winning Nigerian singer, Waje, took a trip down memory lane, when she shared a touching freedom story of how her life was transformed, despite the challenges she had faced as a young girl.

The ‘Coco Baby’ singer said she would have ended up as a woman who sleeps with men for money, living in the slum with no hope of tomorrow and waiting to be killed by the next STD that she would have contracted as a result of exchanging her body for money.

She took to her page to recount her life experience:

“I could have been that commercial s*x worker with no hope for the future, living in the slum and wondering if the next STD I contract would end my life. But because of the opportunity given to me, I have become an award winning vocalist and songwriter and a voice for generations, leaving an indelible mark in the music industry and my country. This is #MyFreedomStory. Together we can transform more lives in our communities.”

Omawunmi’s Freedom story:

Waje wasn’t the only one on this as her bestfriend, Omawunmi joined in to support the freedom story movement. she said: “My life could have been turned out horrible. I would have been finding solace in drugs and everything else that is not of God, not knowing the way out of my misery
BUT because of the gift of opportunities given to me, this is who I am: an award winning musician and songwriter. This is My Freedom Story Together we can transform more lives in our communities.”

But nevertheless there was a disclaimer press release from organizers of the foundation stating thus:

My Freedom Story campaign was initiated to create awareness about societal ills, and in turn bring about social change and impact in our communities. The concept of the campaign is to feature celebrities who serve as role models in the society, showcasing a MAKE BELIEVE scenario of who they could have been versus who they have now become, without the gift of opportunity.  These images DO NOT IN ANY WAY reflect the real stories of ANY celebrity that was featured in the campaign.
