The Governor of Lagos state, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has released a press statement about the attack that happened at lekki tollgate on Tuesday night.
Unharmed protesters who were waving their flags and singing the country’s national anthem were attacked by soldiers of the Nigerian army.
The governor took to his Twitter page to apologize to Nigerians about the shooting while promising to get to the end of it.
Sanwo-Olu stated that yesterday’s event was one of the saddest in the history of the state and there was no excuse for what happened.
He also pleaded with youths in the state to give peace a chance after reports of destroyed and vandalized buildings in various parts of the state.
The governor reassured the youths that every life matters and a solution was in the works.
Governor Sanwo-Olu also issued the suspension of activities in the state for 3 days to allow security management to get to the root of the problem.
