A United States rapper, Andre Johnson, says he cut off his penis because it was way out of control.
Johnson had cut of his manhood during a party and then jumped off a second-floor balcony.
The rapper, who has performed with the Wu-Tang Clan, was rushed to hospital after he attempted suicide at an apartment building in North Hollywood.
Johnson was found on the sidewalk critically injured and was taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center along with his severed penis.
Although TMZ is reporting that the rapper is in a stable condition, his penis was unable to be saved.
This means he will never be able to have the organ reattached.
His friends, who reside in the building told TMZ that without warning, Johnson cut his penis off and jumped from the second floor.
The incident happened so quickly, that by the time friends made it to the ground floor, Johnson was on his feet and ‘running around screaming’.
Speaking with BBC, the Los Angeles rapper disclosed that he took the extreme measure because he felt that his penis was out of control.

He said, My interactions with women have been callous.
“At the back of my mind, my issues were eating me.
“I was thinking my interaction with women have been just callous, no moral code.
“I said I will fix this problem that is causing me so much misery.
“That’s when I think the insanity kicked in.
“I said, ‘Yo, my dick is outta control. I need a vasectomy.
“I grabbed a knife and, bam, I pulled down my pants and (he mimes a chopping motion) … that quick.
“Though doctors were unable to reattach the severed part of my penis after a life-saving surgery, that doesn’t mean that I can’t have sex.

“When I’m actually having the act of sex, it’s not like, ‘Oh I wish I still had my penis.
“It’s like, I’m in there. Like it used to be,” he said.
Following his action, he was hospitalised and diagnosed with having suffered a period of severe depression, this led to him being referred to a psychiatrist.
Although reports say no hard drugs were involved but the rapper is believed to have mental health issues, Johnson confessed to using drugs and alcohol.
He said, “When we have mental health issues, we turn to drugs – you know, smoke this, have a drink.”
Describing his unusual action, the rapper said, “I just jumped up, out of nowhere and I went to the kitchen.”
