Memorial Service For a Cat Named Magnificat

A cat named Doorkins Magnificat in London has had a memorial service held on the 28th of October after it recently died, living 12 years after strolling into a church in a London cathedral as a stray cat.

The cat rose to celebrity status after starring in a children’s book, meeting with the Queen, and having her own social media accounts where you can find beautiful pictures and video of the cat

Magnificat

During her twelve year stay in Southwark Cathedral the cat became famous in the church and many parts of London before before it died of stroke one month ago.

Magnificat’s thanksgiving service was held under the cathedral’s Gothic arches before she was laid to rest in the churchyard.

In line with Covid-19 regulations, only a maximum of 30 people were allowed to attend Doorkins Memorial service on Wednesday.

Andrew Nunn, the dean, told the congregation. “In more normal times, we often host memorial services for the great and the good. But I don’t think there’s ever been a service for a cat.”
