Imagine losing all you’ve worked for in your life in just a single day. That’s what happened to Phillipe Christodoulou in 2020.
Christodoulou lost 17.1 BTC after installing a phony iPhone application.
On the day of the incident, Christodoulou wanted to check his Bitcoin balance so he headed over to App Store to download the Trezor application.
The Crypto trader had no idea that he was installing a fake version of the app.
Trevor reportedly doesn’t offer phone apps and the company has warned users about this previously.
The malicious app allowed hackers to get access to Christodoulou’s Trezor wallet and he lost 17.1 Bitcoin.
In December 2020, Trezor warned users about a similar app on Playstore and reported the app to Google.
Christodoulou has said that he blames Apple for this incident. He claims to have been a loyal customer and Apple caused him to lose all his money.
All of the victim’s losses would have been worth over $1 million in today’s market.
