Some illegal NIMC officers have been arrested in Kano State during a raid
The management of the National Identity Management Commission got wind of illegal NIN registration centers operating in the state and swun into action
The raid resulted to the arrest of many operators of illegal centers including business centres and cyber cafe
The National Identity Management Commission has caught some illegal outlets who are carrying out National Identity Number registration in Kano State.
NIMC official arrested operators of the centres and handed them over to the police for investigation.
Some of the items discovered at the centres include fake plastic, NIMC slips, and ID cards as well as other documents belonging to the commission which ought not be found in possession of any other person.
In a video footage shared on the official Twitter handle of the the commission, the legal counsel in Kano said the operation was undertaken in conjunction with a team from Abuja.
According to the legal officer, the operators of the illegal NIN registration centres will be charged to court as soon as m the investigation is concluded.
Meanwhile, we reported earlier that the Nigerian government has directed all telecommunication operators to deregister all SIM cards that are not synchronized with the National Identity Number (NIN) by December 30th 2020.
