Meta to Launch WhatsApp Cloud API for Businesses Globally
-
Meta is set to introduce the WhatsApp Cloud API to businesses worldwide.
-
The service extension is aimed at getting more businesses to use the platform.
-
Integration time for small businesses has also been cut down from weeks to minutes.
Mark Zuckerberg, the Meta Chief Executive Officer has disclosed that the company is opening WhatsApp to businesses of all sizes using the WhatsApp Cloud API.
So far, many big brands such as BMW, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, Vodafone, and Sears Mexico have been set up on the non-cloud-based-free version of the API.
Now, the newly introduced cloud-based version seeks to attract a market of small and medium-scale businesses and reduce the integration time to minutes instead of weeks.
The new WhatsApp Cloud API will also be free just like the previous ones and with it, developers or businesses can easily customize services to suit their preferences.
According to the VP of business messaging at Meta, ET Matthew Idema, there is an option among the new premium features to utilize one phone number from multiple devices.
Also, businesses will now get a dedicated branded URL that will be similar to a website address. All these, he said, will be introduced in the coming months.

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, during the “Conversations” live event, stated that businesses and developers will also incur cheaper server expenses. In addition to that, new customers will be provided with access to these new features as soon they arrive.
According to Business Insider, over one billion users connect with a business account on WhatsApp every week, making the new development a move on the right track for expansion.
