DJ Switch was one of the hundreds of #ENDSARS protesters at the Lekki Toll Gate on the evening of Tuesday, 20 October 2020, when military personnel stormed the ground and opened fire on the protesters.

DJ Switch had released a video earlier and here is a full transcript of all she said.

Yes there were soldiers there. Another part that people are not talking about, the police also came, the SARS people also came maybe 40 to 45 minute after the soldiers left. We were teargased; it is like Cotonu pepper mixed with acid. We were running.

This our coconut head generation. We would run, we will come back and the only thing we fought with is our flag and we sit on the floor and raised our hands up and singing the national anthem.

A boy jumped on me and was shouting cover her cover, they shot that boy on my back I fell and while the soldiers were trying to pick their shell we were running around and picking their shells too because we want a proof. These are some of the shells (brings out some shells) we pick, this one, (picked one) I called my own because this one landed next to my ear.

This one, was the one we took out of someone’s lap.

(Soberly) The military, they were there on Nigerian soils, killing Nigerian citizens. The police and their SARS like people came doing the same thing; aiming and shooting they were pointing the guns at us and shooting live bullets. Who take live bullets to a protest?

Now I think about in hindsight I wished we hadn’t done it, we carried dead bodies and dropped at the feet of the soldiers so they can see what they did to us. When i asked their unit commander or something why are you killing us.

I wish we didn’t do that I wish we kept the bodies, because they ended up throwing the bodies into their vans.

I never said 78 people died I don’t know that. What I do know was that as at when I was doing the live (Instagram live video) 7 people had died. When my phone died we had counted about 15 people. I don’t know if it was more than that, we had a lot of people that had stray bullet wounds, gunshot wounds.

78 people? I don’t know when you got that from. I saw another one say my cousin died that is not true please. I never said 78 people died, I don’t know that.

DJ Switch is a professional disk jockey and one of the hottest in the industry at the moment. DJ Switch got a lot of applauds during the Lekki Shooting because a large segment of the internet had to rely on her Instagram Live session to follow happenings had the protest grouns. Many had also rumoured that DJ Switch might become a target of the government being that she was one of the few that have publicly given an updated and allaborate account of the event on Tuesday 20 October 2020 in Lekki Toll Gate.
