
Soldiers from the Nigerian Army have been deployed to the crisis-ridden Oyigbo area of Portharcourt Rivers State, where it is alleged that over 500 suspected members of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, attacked and set ablaze two Police Stations and 15 cars, including an Armoured Personnel Carrier, APC on Wednesday 21 of October, 2020

There have been reported episode of sporadic gunfire in Oyigbo Portharcourt throughout Thursday night leading up to the early hours of Friday, with residents posting on social media, calling for help as people scampered for safety amidst booming gunfire.
Meanwhile the River State Police Command in Portharcourt in a press statement on Thursday said “hoodlums numbering about 500 suspected to be members of the proscribed Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB) invaded the Oyigbo Area Command, Oyigbo and Afam Police Stations, setting them ablaze and damaging about fifteen vehicles, including one Armoured Personnel Carrier (APC), with two police officers killed and some arms and ammunition carted away by the hoodlums
