Zero Emission Vehicle: UNILAG Students Launch Electric Car

Who needs Tesla when you have got the engineering team of the University of Lagos (UNILAG).

The Lagos University recently launched an electric vehicle called the Zero Emission Vehicle (ZEV) which has been in the working since 2018.

The Deputy Vice-Chancellor, (Academics and Research), Oluwole Familoni passed the news while speaking to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) last month.

The deputy VC disclosed that the vehicle was designed to reduce carbon emission and noise during operation.

According to Mr Familoni, the Zero Emissions Vehicle is 63% hardware, 100 per cent software and completely home-made.

The deputy VC added that the vehicle shows the effort being put in by the University to reduced the release of toxic emissions into the environment.

The vehicle was developed by a team led by Metallurgical and Materials Engineering professor Samson Adeosun.

Although the original vehicle was designed in the form of a six-passenger, Mr Familoni revealed that it could be reconfigured into an 18 seater bus.
