World’s Largest Family: Man With 39 Wives and 94 Children

• The man who is the head of the world’s largest family recently passed away in north northeastern India

• Before his death, Ziona Chana had 39 wives, 94 children and 33 grandchildren and he and his large family lived together in a 100 rooms house in Baktawng

India is the second-most populous nation in the world, with a population of 1.36 billion.

This largely because of the exploits of people like Ziona China.

Before his death in June 2021, Ziona China was the head of the world’s largest family which consisted of 167 people.

Ziona had 39 wives, 94 children and 33 grandchildren and they all lived together in a four-storey house in Baktawng, Northeastern India.

The father of many married his first wife when he was only 17 years before turning into a polygamist.

Ziona claimed that there was a time when he married 10 women in a year.

His wives live in a dormitory near his private bedroom and rumours have it that he loved to have 8 of them at his side at all times.

The village of Baktawng became a tourist attraction thanks to the exploits of Ziona and his family.

Tourists paid to come into the town just to have a look at the extended family and their way of life.

In a 2011 interview with Reuters, Mr Chana claimed that was blessed to have such a large family and he was willing to go to any extent to expand it by marriage.
