Gunmen have attacked the St. Francis Catholic Church in Owo, Ondo state, killing more than 50 members of the congregation during a church service.
A report from the Tribune revealed that several corpses have been moved out of the church with many other casualties lying at the Federal Medical Center, Owo, for medical attention.
Witnesses claim that the gunmen suddenly attacked while a service was holding and opened fire on members of the church. The congregation were cut unaware and several were hit by bullets.
It is estimated that the number of deceased may be more than this since several injured people died on their way to the hospital.

The report also claims that gunmen used explosives within the church compound but most of the fatalities were a result of gunfire.
The perpetrators of the Ondo Owo massacre were said to have fled the scene immediately after committing the act. Gory videos online showed several lifeless bodies inside the church.
