Political activist and Sahara Reporters founder Omoyele Sowore had reportedly been attacked by the police in Abuja.
According to reports, a female police officer fired a teargas canister at the former presidential contestant who came to the Unity Fountain in Abuja to protest.
Other reports claimed that Sowore was shot and had to be rushed to the hospital for treatment.
The news was also confirmed by popular lawyer Inibehe Effiong in a post on Twitter.
According to Effiong, the officer responsible for the shooting is an Assistant Commissioner of Police, Hyelhira Altine.
Sowore however urged Nigerians to continue the struggle even if his life is taken.

Sahara Reporters founder Sowore has been a thorn in the flesh of the government and he has been involved in altercations with government officials multiple times.
