Lagos High Court Grants Baba Ijesha Bail

  • A Lagos state high court has granted bail to Nollywood actor Omiyinka Olanrewaju, popularly known as Baba Ijesha
  • The actor had been accused of sexual assault against a 14-year-old girl
  • The conditions of the bail are that Mr Olanrewaju pays a sum of two million naira and provides two sureties

A court has finally granted bail to Nollywood actor Omiyinka Olanrewaju aka Baba Ijesha, who had been on trial for the sexual assault of a minor.

Mr Olanrewaju pleaded not guilty during his appearance at Lagos state high court in Ikeja today.

The court agreed to grant the actor bail on the condition that he pays the sum of two million and provides two sureties.

Ijesha was ordered to provide a lawyer and one of his relatives who stays in Lagos state to stand as sureties within the next seven days.

The Lagos state government has opened a criminal charge against Mr Olanrewaju and it has been recommended that he faces a five-count charge.

Naija FM reported that Baba Ijesha appeared in the court last week and was denied bail.

Baba Ijesha recently hired Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SANs), Babatunde Ogala and Dada Awosika as his counsel.

A total of 15 lawyers were present in the representation of Ijesha at the high court on Thursday morning.

The trial against the defendant filed by Comedian Princess has now been adjourned till July 26, 27 and 28.
