2016 Nigeria Music Video Awards
I don’t know how I feel about the 2016 Nigeria Music Video Awards. When it comes to winning, sometimes there’s some form of bias. Do you really believe the that the Nigeria Music Video Awards is free and fair? Common now, no be Naija we dey? No favoritism, no bribing? Hmmmm, I doubt.
Anyway, winning can be something I will say is collective and personal. Some people do things because they want to outdo some other persons, so they are usually bitter when they don’t win. For me, winning is personal. You put your best into something knowing that you gave it your best shot. You are in constant competition with yourself, wanting to improve every time. This way, people’s judgment of whether what you did is best compared to others doesn’t beat you so bad. The point is, if you seek constant improvement with yourself, there is no way you wouldn’t find yourself at the top sometimes. Winning is not constant, you should know that.
That said, the Nigeria Music Video Awards (NMVA), which was hosted by Okey Bakassi on 15th December 2016 at Eko Hotels Victoria Island, Lagos has come and gone. Like we know, there were criteria that these videos had to meet to be nominated in the first place, it means that to be on the list, one must have met every requirement. So I will still say that somehow, ‘chua chua’ go dey this thing, especially if every one met the requirement.
I will tell you this, all the videos were on point; I believe everyone did their best. Trust me; you never want to be in a position where you have to choose between people’s work, you go just dey confused.
My own advice; better don’t remain the same way you were next year. Improve on whatever it is you’ve got. Make I shut up my mouth, wetin I sabi?
