Nigerian pop singer Florence Ifeloluwa Otedola also known as DJ Cuppy has finally bowed to pressure from fans who called her out for not being physically present on street demonstrations to #ENDSARS.
The daughter to billionaire businessman Femi Otedola had only tweeted about the ENDSARS campaign but was never seen demonstrating against police brutality.
Yesterday, DJ Cuppy came out with a video where she held out a placard with the #ENDSARS inscription which garnered a lot of reactions from her fans.
When DJ Cuppy was in London and she was asked to join the protest with Nigerians in the United Kingdom, she said that she was already in Dubai and would be part of the demonstration there. However, when the #ENDSARS campaign organisers in Dubai reached out to her, she turned again to claim that she was en-route Lagos to lend her voice to the protest.
On getting to Lagos, fans called her to show up at Lekki, one of the hotspots of the #ENDSARS protest so far, this time she responded that she has been mandated to self-isolate for 7 days because of COVID-19.
However true her explanations were, these series of excuseS got many of her fans irritated and many assumed she was trying to shield away from the protest.
